Sega Confirms No Mini Saturn or Dreamcast in 2024

Sega fans will have to wait a while longer for mini versions of the Saturn or Dreamcast. In a recent interview, Sega CEO Haruki Satomi confirmed that there are no plans to release either console in miniature form this year.

The Dreamcast’s Legacy

The Dreamcast, released in 1999, was Sega’s last home video game console. It was a commercial failure, but it has since gained a cult following for its innovative games and online capabilities. Many fans have been hoping for a mini version of the console for years.

The Saturn’s Niche

The Saturn, released in 1994, was Sega’s first 32-bit console. It was more powerful than the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, but it was also more expensive. The Saturn was a commercial failure in the United States, but it was more successful in Japan.

Sega’s Future Plans

Sega is currently focused on its new arcade hardware, the Sega Lindbergh. The company is also working on new games for its existing consoles, the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

While it’s disappointing that there will be no mini Saturn or Dreamcast in 2023, it’s good to know that Sega is still supporting its existing consoles. Hopefully, we’ll see mini versions of these classic consoles in the future.
